PINTEREST INSPIRATIONS & INNOVATIONS

Pinterest is continuing to have a real impact on the worlds of e-commerce, and advertising. Two fresh examples caught our attention this week.

First up, UNICEF came up with a clever campaign which challenges Pinterest users’ materialistic aspirations with its fictional profile of a 13 year old girl in Sierra Leone. It revealed her humble aspirations, basic like clean water, grain and soap. Point well made. [Read on].

Next up, Zappos, the Amazon owned retailer, has created a Pinterest app-based microsite called PinPointing, which allows users to get style recommendations based on what any user has previously pinned. For example, searching the Pinboard of Dazed & Confused will throw up inspirations based on the magazine’s history of Pins.
