There has recently been a significant rise in jobs scams in Indonesia featuring fraudsters impersonating agencies, including M&C Saatchi Performance.
We are currently being affected by this fraud and while we are doing our best to mitigate this issue, we would like to spread awareness and invite all individuals who think they are being scammed to take precautions and reach out to us.
Please find below how the scam looks like and some useful information to verify whether you are truly being contacted by our team.
HOW THE RECRUITING SCAM LOOKS LIKE
Here are a few recent examples of the scam involving M&C Saatchi Performance.
Scammers reach out to people on WhatsApp asking them if they are open for a job opportunity. They offer a freelance job and mention a money reward. Later on, they ask candidates to join Telegram or a WhatsApp group where the scam takes place.
HOW TO RECOGNIZE IF YOU’RE BEING SCAMMED
Below is a list of warning signs that could indicate you have been contacted by a scammer posing as our HR person. Scammers would:
- Contact you via WhatsApp without a proper introduction
- Say they got your contact in ambiguous ways such as through recruitment websites
- Offer you freelance jobs that you never applied for and without an official letter of offer
- Give information about the salary per day
- Ask you to pay a fee in order to be put forward as a candidate
- Ask you to pay money on behalf of another individual
- Poor spelling and/or grammar
- Guarantee employment or income
