Shopping online has its obvious advantages but there is something that we might ultimately come to miss: shopping with friends. It’s been a staple social activity for years, and while we can share links & images on social media, e-commerce is mostly a lonely old business.
It’s not a future recognised by new startup, BevyUp. They’ve developed a social tool for retailers’ websites which allows multiple users to surf and shop together. Users are able to share their screens, live chat with text and video, and integrate their social media networks facilitate further connections. And for the retailer, the benefits are obvious: while visitors are chatting and comparing notes, their dwell time on the site increases, giving more opportunities to engage and delight, along with rich new layers of behavioural data for analysis. The tool works across all platforms and devices, too.
We love the observation that e-commerce is open to development as a social endeavour. BevyUp drives forward the notion that it is not just about sharing a link, or posting an item on social media. It may just be a window into the future of e-commerce…
